Duplicate customers or vendors can occur if the same name has been entered into QuickBooks slightly differently. Duplicates can be identified as more than one entry of the same name with the same ID number. If duplicate customers or duplicate vendors exist in QuickBooks, use this process to merge them. Refer to Intuit for more information on this process. Before merging, review both entries to ensure they are indeed duplicates. Merging Customers or Vendors cannot be undone.
NOTE: Your QuickBooks must be set to Single User Mode to merge duplicates.
To merge duplicates Customers:
In QuickBooks Online, open Customers & leads > Customers.
Double-click the name you don't want to keep.
Click the down arrow next to the Edit button and select "Merge contacts".
Choose the contact that you wish to merge the current contact INTO and click Merge contacts.
The current contact will be deleted and all transactions will be moved into the selected contact.
To merge a duplicate vendor:
In QuickBooks Online, navigate to Expenses > Vendors.
Open the vendor you wish to keep and copy the Vendor display name.
Return to your list of Vendors and select the vendor you wish to merge. Select Edit.
Paste the copied Vendor display name into the same field on the Vendor you wish to merge. Click Save.
Confirm your intention to merge the two vendors by clicking Yes.
The vendor you merged has been deleted and all associated expenses have now been merged with the vendor you chose to keep.
After the Customer or Vendor has been merged properly in QuickBooks, return to Accounting > Names Tab in Neos to unlink and then relink to the appropriate QuickBooks Full Name. Follow Link/Unlink Names to sever the existing link between the Neos Party and QuickBooks Customer and, if applicable, the Neos Provider and QuickBooks Vendor, then create a new link with the updated name from your QuickBooks.
