Case Permissions

To set all the tabs for the Case, select the Explicitly Allow or Explicitly Deny buttons for each level below the Permission Key.

NOTE: The Invoicing Tab and Funds Tab permissions have been moved to the Accounting section.

Case > Case Budget

Permissions to the Case Budget are displayed below. Staff who have access to the Value Tab will have the Case Budget permission enabled by default.

  • Enabled?: Displays the Case Budget on the Case Header and Value > Funds Tab.

  • Can add?: Permission is not applicable.

  • Can modify?: Displays the pencil icon to edit the budget in a case. If disabled on the Case Header, the Enable button will be visible.

  • Can delete?: Permission is not applicable.

Case > Deadlines

Permissions to Deadlines are displayed below. All Staff and Permission Groups, including the Administrator Role will have Deadlines enabled (set to explicit Allow) by default. This permission controls access to deadlines added to the Case Calendar Tab.

NOTE: Staff must also have at least Enabled permissions to the Case > Case Calendar Tab.

  • Enabled?: Displays the Deadlines from LawToolBox in the Case Calendar Tab.

  • Can add?: Allows access to the "New Trigger Date" option.

  • Can modify?: Displays the pencil icon to change LawToolBox Deadlines in the Case Calendar Tab.

  • Can delete?: Allows a LawToolBox Deadline to be deleted from the Case Calendar Tab using the trash can icon.

NOTE: Staff assigned to LawToolBox Deadlines cannot be deleted and will be marked inactive.

Case > Party Tab

Permissions to the Party Tab are displayed below. Refer to Special Permissions for details on the Change Party Name permission. A separate permission exists for access to Name Details, such as addresses, phone numbers and online accounts.

  • Enabled?: View Party Tab.

  • Can add?: Create new Parties.

  • Can modify?: Change existing Parties.

  • Can delete?: Delete Parties.

Case > Case Tab

Permissions to the Case Tab are described below. Refer to Special Permissions to control access of specific critical data fields, such as the ability to modify Alternate Case # 1 and 2, Case Dates, Class Code, Date of Incident, Date Closed, Referred By, Staff Assigned and Change Case Type.

  • Enabled?: View Case Tab.

  • Can add?: Create new Case.

  • Can modify?: Change Case Tab information.

Case > Companion Cases Tab

Permissions to the Companion Cases Tab are displayed below.

  • Enabled?: View Companion Cases Tab.

  • Can add?: Add a Case to a Companion Group.

  • Can modify?: Change existing Companion Case groups members.

  • Can delete?: Not applicable (Companion Groups can only be deleted from the Companion Groups Directory).

Case > Checklist Tab

Permissions to the Checklist Tab are described below.

  • Enabled?: View Checklist Tab.

  • Can add?: Insert new Checklist items.

  • Can modify?: Change existing Checklist items.

  • Can delete?: Delete Checklist items.

    • Refer to Special Permissions for details on the Delete Lim items permission.

Case > Case Calendar Tab

Permissions to the Case Calendar Tab are displayed below. This set of permissions controls if the staff can add, modify and/or delete appointments from the Case Calendar Tab. Permissions to others Staff Calendars is separate.

  • Enabled?: View Case Calendar Tab.

  • Can add?: Create new Case appointments using the "New Event" button.

  • Can modify?: Change existing Case appointments.

  • Can delete?: Delete Case appointments.

Case > Notes Tab

Permissions to the Notes Tab are described below. This section controls access only to the notes in a Case entered by that Staff.

  • Enabled?: View Notes Tab and any Staff's notes.

  • Can add?: Create new notes for any Staff.

  • Can modify?: Change user's own case notes.

    • Refer to Special Permissions for details on the Modify Other's Notes permission.

  • Can delete?: Delete user's own case notes.

Case > Insurance Tab

Permissions to the Insurance Tab are described below.

  • Enabled?: View Insurance Tab.

  • Can add?: Create new Insurance items.

  • Can modify?: Change existing Insurance items.

  • Can delete?: Delete Insurance items.

Case > Negotiation Tab

Permissions to the Negotiation Tab are described below.

  • Enabled?: View Negotiation Tab.

  • Can add?: Create new Negotiation items.

  • Can modify?: Change existing Negotiation items.

  • Can delete?: Delete Negotiation items.

Case > Counsel Tab

Permissions to the Counsel Tab are described below.

  • Enabled?: View Counsel Tab.

  • Can add?: Create new Counsel items.

  • Can modify?: Change existing Counsel items.

  • Can delete?: Delete Counsel items.

Case > Police Tab

Permissions to the Police Tab are displayed below.

  • Enabled?: View Police Tab.

  • Can add?: Create new Police items.

  • Can modify?: Change existing Police items.

  • Can delete?: Delete Police items.

Case > Documents Tab

Permissions to the Documents Tab are described below.

  • Enabled?: View Documents Tab (list and detail view, open document in SharePoint).

  • Can add?: Insert new documents.

NOTE: You must have permission to Generate Documents and Forms to Add > From Template. Refer to Special Permissions for more details.

  • Can modify?: Change fields on the Documents Tab detail view.

  • Can delete?: Delete Document Tab items.

NOTE: This permission is required to move documents to other cases.

Case > Accident Information Tab

Permissions to the Accident Information Tab are described below. The following permissions will be enabled by default for all staff in the Administrator permission group. All other staff will have this permission disabled by default.

  • Enabled?: View Accident Information Tab.

  • Can add?: Create new entries using the 'Add Vehicle' button.

  • Can modify?: Change or enter data into fields on existing Accident Information Tab entries.

  • Can delete?: Delete Accident Information Tab entries using the trash can icon.

Case > User Tab List/Entry Tab 1-5

Permissions to the User Tab List/Entry Tabs 1-5 are described below.

  • Enabled?: View user list tab items.

  • Can add?: Create new user list tab items.

  • Can modify?: Change existing user list tab items.

  • Can delete?: Delete user list tab items.

Case > User Tab Entry 6-10

Permissions to the User Tab Entry Tabs 6-10 are described below.

  • Enabled?: View user entry tab.

  • Can modify?: Change data in user entry tab fields.

Case > Value Tab

Permissions to the Value Tab are described below.

  • Enabled?: View Value Tab.

  • Can add?: Create new Value items.

  • Can modify?: Change existing Value items.

  • Can delete?: Delete Value items.

Case > Time Tab

Permissions to the Time Tab are described below.

  • Enabled?: View Time Tab entries.

  • Can add?: Create new Time entries to the Time Tab (directly on Time Tab or from Timer).

  • Can modify?: Change Time Tab entries.

  • Can delete?: Delete Time Tab entries.
