Bulk Add Cases to a Companion Group

Advanced Search supports Companion Group visibility and bulk assignment for Cases, Intakes, and Intakes and Cases. You can add the Companion Group column to search results to identify group membership at a glance, filter records by companion group, and bulk-assign large batches of records to a companion group without opening each record individually. This is especially useful when organizing mass tort cases that share a common defendant or incident.

NOTE: You must have Enabled permissions to Companion Case Groups to view the Companion Group column and filter. Modify permissions are required to use the Bulk Add to Companion Group action.

Bulk Add Records to a Companion Group

After running an Advanced Search, you can select multiple records and add them to an existing companion group or create a new group without navigating to each record individually.

  1. Run an Advanced Search for Cases, Intakes, or Intakes and Cases.

  2. Select records using the checkboxes in the results grid. Use Select All to select all records on the current page.

  3. Click Bulk Actions and choose Add to Companion Group.

  4. The Select Companion Case Groups window will open, displaying:

  • Left panel: A list of all existing companion groups, showing the Group Name and Case count for each.

  • Right panel: Group Members for the currently selected group, including Case #, Alt Case #, Date Opened, Case Type, Party Name, Status, and MultiGroups.

5. To add records to an existing group, select the group name from the left panel.

6. To create a new group, type the new group name in the Enter a New Group Name field above the groups list.

NOTE: If a new group is added but Cancel is clicked, the added group will not be saved.

7. A processing/complete window will display.

8. Click Save.

The added case(s) group members can be viewed in the Companion Groups Directory and Companion Cases Tab of a Case Member.
