Leveraging NeosAI, users can generate document summaries in seconds, gathering an understanding of a document without having to open the file. The Analyze Documents feature alleviates manually writing document summaries and allows NeosAI-generated summaries to be added to Advanced Search queries for faster reporting.
NOTE: Your firm must have NeosAI and a user must have the NeosAI Special Permission enabled.
Any document can be summarized in a format of .docx, .txt, .pdf, and image files using .png, JPEG (.jpeg and .jpg), .bmp, and non-animated .gif files. The maximum size for images is restricted to 20 MB.
The Also generate a summary of this document checkbox will be automatically selected. Click the Analyze button to analyze the document and generate a summary.
NOTE: The Document Summary can only be run once per document. If this document already contains text in the Document Summary field, the generated summary will be appended after the existing saved text.
NeosAI will extract a summary of the document to show an Overview (abstractive), up to 6 sentences, and Document Details (extractive) in the Document Summary field. There is no technical character limit to this field.
The Document Details section will contain a chronological order of information from where it appears in the document (e.g., "Pages 1-2 Case Information and Deposition Notice"), with each subsection capturing the most relevant key points in a bulleted list.
NOTE: Page numbers of the document will not retroactively display on documents uploaded prior to the December 2024 release. Modifications can be made, as needed with Modify permissions to the Case > Documents Tab.
The AI Document Summary will adhere to the Azure AI Input Limit (approximately 4,000,000 characters or 1,500 – 2,000 pages - depending on text density), allowing firms to process larger documents more efficiently Anything over this size will be automatically truncated to fit within the limit.
Document summaries from image files will display an Overview containing information about the image and insight from a legal perspective. Typically, section titles will display "Detailed Description" and "Legal Case Relevance".
Should the document be copied or moved to other cases, the AI-generated summary will also be copied or moved accordingly with the document.
The Document Summary field can be used as a filter and column in Advanced Search for Cases and Providers.
AI Generated documents will be noted with the AI tag in the Activity Feed and when the activity is selected, will display the generated Document Summary.
