View User Permissions in Microsoft Azure

This feature offers a high-level view of all staff to check if Microsoft 365 emails are connected in Neos. If Staff emails are not properly activated, users could encounter error messages when trying able to add, modify, or delete Calendar events in Neos which may result in duplicate entries.

Any change, such as adding staff and reconnecting MS 365 accounts should be performed solely in Neos.

  1. In a new browser window, navigate to https://portal.azure.com

  2. You will be immediately prompted to log in using your firm's Microsoft email.

  3. After authentication, select the Microsoft Entra ID (formally Azure Active Directory) option either from the Azure services panel, the left-side pane, or using the search bar.

  4. Select Enterprise applications from the left-side pane.

  5. Under All applications, search for "AssemblySoftwareAPI" and select that option from the list.

  6. Select Permissions from the left-side pane.

  7. Within the Permissions view, select the User consent tab. Under the Granted by column, select any of the hyperlinks that show <#> total user(s).

NOTE: It is not recommended to select the "Grant admin consent" button for this purpose.

  8. A right-side pane will display showing the list of users that have their Office 365 connected with Neos.

  9. If the user in question is NOT on this list, return to Neos and navigate to their Staff Profile.

  10. Click the X to disconnect their Office365 connection, if currently connected.

  11. Click the Disconnect button on the Disconnect Office365 Account window.

  12. Return to the same bar and now click the arrow next to Not Connected.

  13. Follow the login/authentication steps for Neos to connect with your Office365 account.

  14. Once successful, Office365 will show Connected (like in step 10).

  15. Navigate back to Microsoft Azure and check to see if the total number of users has increased.

  16. In Neos, close any open tabs related to the original issue, such as Calendar. Reopen the related tab and attempt to process the same request (e.g., editing another user's calendar event).

In this example, make sure that all users exist in the Granted by column in Azure AND that all users have "Can Edit" permissions set for their calendar in Outlook. Refer here for more information.

Revoke Application Permissions

The following process can be followed if a staff activates their email in Neos or through their organization in Microsoft Azure and they do not grant approval for Neos API to communicate with Office 365.

When this occurs, the only way to return to the approval window is to revoke the Assembly Software API permissions for the user(s) having the issue and then reconnect their Staff email in Neos.

Using the steps above, the user(s) in question would be shown in the list of users. Follow along to revoke their permissions.

  1. Follow steps 1-5 above.

  2. Navigate to Users and groups

  3. Search for the user in question and click their display name.

  4. Select "AssemblySoftwareAPI" from their list of Applications.

  5. Then select "Remove".

  6. Once removed, have the user return to their Staff Profile in Neos and reactivate their Office 365 account where they should be prompted to grant access between Assembly Software and Office 365.
