Adding an Insurance Item

To add an insurance item:

  1. From the Insurance tab list view, click the + Add button.

  2. Enter information into the following fields of the detail view:

Contact Information

  • Insurer – Enter a fragment of the insurer's name in the searchable names field. Click the search icon or hit the ENTER key to perform the search. Select the insurer from the search results and click the Select button. The Address, Phone, Email, and AKA fields will automatically populate.

  • Adjuster – Enter a fragment of the adjuster's name in the searchable names field. Click the search icon or hit the ENTER key to perform the search. Select the adjuster from the search results and click the Select button. The Address, Phone, Email, and AKA fields will automatically populate.

    Policy Information

  • Party – Use the dropdown to select the insured party. Only parties listed in the Party tab will display.

  • Agent – Enter the name of the agent who wrote the policy.

  • Policy # – Enter the policy number.

  • Claim # – Enter the claim number.

  • Insurance Type – Select the insurance type from the dropdown. Insurance types are created in the Insurance Type Mini Directory.

  • Insured – Enter the name of the policy holder.

  • Limits – Enter the amount of the policy limits.

  • Accept Liability? Select the check box if the insurer has accepted liability. If liability remains disputed or unknown, do not select the check box.

    Claim Information

    Complete the fields pertaining to settlement with the insurer as they become applicable. The settlement information is used to generate reports, including income projections and insurer/adjuster history.

  • Minimum – If the firm is representing the plaintiff or claimant, enter the Minimum amount for the settlement that you expect to obtain.

  • Maximum – If the firm is representing the insurer, enter the maximum amount for the settlement that you expect to offer.

The Minimum and Maximum amounts can be relabeled as necessary in the Case Type Directory > Labels tab to track whatever is most useful for the firm.

  • Actual – When a resolution is reached, enter the actual amount agreed upon.

  • Date Resolved – Enter the date the claim is resolved.

  • How Resolved – Use the dropdown to select the means of resolution. Options are created in the How Resolved Mini Directory.

Comments

Use the text field to enter any notes about this insurer or insurance policy relative to this case. This field will automatically resize and show up to ten lines of text before the scroll bar displays.

User Defined

If user defined fields have been created for the Insurance tab, fields that relate to the selected Insurance Type will be displayed in the corresponding User Defined section.
