Settlement Totals Tab

The Totals tab shows the current due amount of expenses, damages, liens, subrogation, and other costs associated with the Case. At the bottom, the net to client and net to firm are displayed.

Different values can be tweaked in the Settlement Offer, Attorney Fees, and Referral Fees fields. Values will be auto-populated (unless otherwise mentioned) when Value Codes for these items have been added in the Case. If not, they will default to 0.

Fields will display in blue when predictions have been modified. The curved arrow button in each modified field will revert the value to the amount from the Value Tab (or to the saved offer). The reverted field will change back to white.

NOTE: If one or more SETTLE (Settlement Amount) codes exist in the Case, the value will default to the total of these codes when creating a new offer.

  • Settlement Offer – Shows the sum of any "Settlement Amount" Value items in the Case

  • Attorney Fees – Shows the sum of any "Attorney Fees" Value items in the Case

Percentage = Attorney Fees / Settlement Offer

NOTE: Up to 10 decimal places can be entered, allowing for a more precise dollar amount (e.g., 1/3 or 0.3333333333).

Referral Fees – Value items that use the Referral Value Code are already calculated in the Due Others column.

Percentage = Referral Fee / Attorney Fees

NOTE: Up to 10 decimal places can be entered, allowing for a more precise dollar amount.

The calculated value next to the Referral Fees percent is obtained by dividing the Attorney Fees value by the Referral Fees percent. For instance, in the screen above, $82.50 is the dollar amount of $1,650 (Attorney Fees) divided by 5% (Referral Fees). Changes made to the Referral Fess fields will not change any of the Due or Net calculations.

The Due breakdown uses the new Type column in the Value Codes Mini Directory.

  • Due Expenses – Includes the due amount of all Value items under the Case Expenses Value Code Type (excluding liens).

  • Due Damages – Includes the due amount of all Value items under the Damages Value Code Type.

  • Due Liens – Includes the due amount of all Value items that are marked as a lien through the Lien checkbox AND items under the Lien Value Code Type.

  • Due Subrogation – Includes the due amount of all Value items under the Subrogation Value Code Type.

  • Due Others – Includes the due amount of all the remaining Value items that are not categorized using the above Value Code Types (excludes Settlement Amounts, Attorney Fees, Case Expenses, Damages, Lien, and Subrogation).

  • Net to Client – Calculates the Settlement Offer – Debit items due (including Attorney Fees and Due to Firm) + Credit items

  • Net to Firm – Calculates the Total due from Due to Firm + Attorney Fees
