This article reviews the Redact menu function in Neos Premium. Using the redact tool, you can better protect your client's PII (personally identifiable information) by permanently removing text, images, and graphics from a PDF.
NOTE: Your firm must have Neos Premium and Staff must have Add permissions to the Documents Tab to save PDF edits.
Click here for a brief tutorial on the Redact feature in Neos.
The Color Palette is available and allows four different colors to be configured at one time.
The Undo and Redo buttons will undo or redo each last change that was made.
The Eraser button can remove selected redaction changes.
NOTE: Undo, Redo, and Eraser options will not remove a committed redaction.
Click the Mark for redaction button and select the location to create a square redaction over the desired text or image. The outline color of the redaction square defaults to red.
Hover over the redaction square to briefly hide the redacted content. The redaction is not finalized yet.
The Marked for Redaction pane will show the number of redactions in your current document. Select a listed redaction to display the Redaction Annotation pane (shown below).
Click Clear to remove all listed redactions. Click the X to remove any single redaction. Click Redact All to apply the redaction for all listed redactions. This action cannot be undone. Refer to the warning message below.
Select the redaction to show additional options for Comment, Style, Apply, and Delete.

Refer to the beginning of Editing PDFs in Neos to save all recent changes to the current PDF, as a new PDF, or to cancel all changes. Redacted text will be removed (shown in the selected fill color) on Save.
Click Save after all changes have been made to ensure the most current version is saved to the Documents Tab.
