Negation operators can be applied in Advanced Search to exclude specific results from filter groups, collections, or individual list-type filters. Negations provide greater control and flexibility when constructing Advanced Search queries to more precisely target data, eliminate noise from search results, and create powerful exclusion-based filters.
Available Negation Operators
Negations can be set in the first filter group by choosing "Where Not" and in next filter group(s) by choosing "And Not" or "Or Not".
Double-negatives are not allowed. If a collection, subgroup, or filter is already negated, any inner negations are automatically converted to a standard conjunction.
Negate Group/Subgroup
When these operators are selected, the negation is applied to each element within the group or subgroup. For example, selecting "Where Not" when "Case Type = MVA" And "Is Closed = False", the returned results will find Cases where the Case Type is NOT MVA or the Case IS Closed.
Negate Collection/List-Type Filter
Negating a collection or list-type filter returns results where the collection item does not exist. For example, selecting "Where Not" when "Notes > Note Type = Email", the returned results will find Cases where there are no email-type notes.
An entire Collection of filters can be negated. Using the example below, Neos will locate Cases where the First Party Name contains "Adams" but NOT where the Note Type = Email and NOT where Notes were created in the last 30 days.
