Print Postage – Shipping Details

In this step, shipping options like the package type and printing label can be set for all selected contact(s). Once selected, additional Security & Insurance options are available, such as Certified Mail and Return Receipt.

Step 3: Shipping Details

The Shipping Details screen displays options that must be satisfied before moving to the next step. [new screenshot]

  • Package Type – Use the dropdown to select the type of package for your mailing. This is a required field and must be selected before selecting the last three fields. Each top level contains additional options to narrow the type. If the Package Type has changed, the Shipping Details screen will refresh and clear the last three Option fields.

  • Mail Date – Use the date picker or type in the date for this postage to be mailed. The Mail Date defaults to today's date. Up to 7 days from the current date can be selected. For example, if today's date is 01/20, then up to 01/27 can be chosen. This is a required field.

  • Weight – Enter the weight in pounds (defaults to 0) and ounces (defaults to 1) of the package type.

    • Weight lb. is required if the Weight oz. field is blank or 0.

    • Weight oz. is required if the Weight lb. field is blank or 0.

  • Print On – Based on the Package Type selected above, different label options are available. Certified Mail can be sent using a Certified Mail Stamps.com option or a standard Print On option and adding "Certified Mail" in the Security & Insurance section.

  • Service Type – Based on the Package Type, Mail Date, and Weight, plus your Zipcode AND the Zipcode of the first address, use the dropdown to select the number of delivery days and estimated cost for one address. This is a required field. The field will be disabled if the weight is blank.

    Once the Service Type is selected, a Security & Insurance section will be displayed in the right pane.

    Security – Shows options that are compatible with the selected Service Type. The associated cost of each selection will be displayed to the right of the field.

    Certified Mail – Service that provides a Proof of Delivery Receipt via an Electronic or Physical Return Receipt. This is required if a "Certified Mail" "Print On" option is selected.

    Registered Mail Secure transport method used when mailing high-value letters and packages.

    Stamps.com Insurance Stamps.com customers can add up to $10,000 in additional coverage for letters and packages through ParcelGuard.

    USPS Insurance – USPS includes limited coverage for certain packages and services at no additional cost.

    Insured Value – If USPS Insurance or Stamps.com Insurance is selected from the Security field, this field will be enabled and required. The Insured Value must be greater than $0. When purchasing additional insurance, the total amount cannot exceed the value of your package contents.

    Security Checkboxes – The following checkbox options are available for an additional cost. These will be available after the Security field is selected. The costs associated with these options are displayed to the right of the title. Refer to Stamps.com – Special USPS Services for more information.

    Restricted Delivery – Guarantees that your mail is only delivered to the addressee.

    Return Receipt Requested – Provides evidence of delivery in the form of a postcard signed by the recipient (Priority Mail Express®, Priority Mail®, First-Class Mail®, First Class Package Service®, and Media Mail).

    Electronic Return Receipt – Provides evidence of delivery in the form of an email with an electronic copy of the recipient's signature (Priority Mail Express®, Priority Mail®, First-Class Mail®, First Class Package Service®, and Media Mail).

    Tracking – Choose the desired tracking options, which depend on the compatible Service Types selected. The cost of each selected tracking option is displayed to the right of the field.

    Other – This additional section will display when compatible selections have been made. The associated cost will be displayed for each item.

    • Sunday/Holiday Delivery Guaranteed

  • Cost Code ID – Use this optional field to select a Cost Code ID available from your Stamps.com account.

  • Hide Return Address – When the Package Type is set to "Letter" and the Service Type is set to "USPS First Class Mail", the Hide Return Address checkbox will be visible for the following "Print On" types. If the checkbox is selected, the From address will NOT be included in the postage PDF. This option allows your firm to utilize pre-printed company envelopes.

If any selections conflict with another option or selected service type, the following error message will display. For example, if a "Certified Mail" Print On option is selected but you have not selected "Certified Mail in the Security field.

If the Options selected (Package Type, Mail Date, Weight, and Print On) are not compatible, the following error message will display. For example, if the weight is set over the allowed amount for the package type.

When all options have been selected, click Next to continue to Step 4 – Review Total Cost.
