Adding a Negotiation Item

To add a negotiation item,

  1. From the Negotiation tab list view, click the + Add button.

  2. On the new negotiation item, click the Type dropdown to select the negotiation type (Insurance, Counsel, or Party). The selected type is used to determine the Insurance, Counsel, or Party Information, and can be changed later. The Counsel and Insurance dropdown options will be available when the corresponding Case Folder tabs are active in the Case Type Directory.

  3. Enter information into the following fields:

Contact Information

  • Negotiating With – Use the search field to locate the negotiator's name. Negotiating With is a required field to save the negotiation item. The Address, Phone, Email and AKA fields will populate with details from the selected provider. This field will automatically populate with details selected from the Party, Insurance, or Counsel Information field.

    NOTE: When data exists in the Adjuster field of an Insurance Tab entry, it will automatically populate the Negotiating With field when selected from the Insurance field below.

    Insurance Information

    The following fields are used when the Insurance type is selected.

  • Insurance – Use the dropdown to select the desired Insurer from items entered on the Insurance tab. This is a required field and must be entered in order to save the negotiation item. Additional information is now present in the dropdown to show Insurance Type, Insurer Full Name, Party Full Name, and Party Role.

    The Policy #, Policy Type, Claim #, Minimum, Maximum, and Limits fields will populate Insurance tab information when an Insurer has been selected. Once entered, these fields cannot be modified.

    Counsel Information

    The following fields are used when the Counsel type is selected.

  • CounselUse the dropdown to select the desired Counsel from items entered on the Counsel tab. Additional information is now present in the dropdown to show Counsel Full Name, Representing Full Name, Party Role.

    • If the Counsel is representing more than one party, "et. al." will display after the first party and role.

    The Representing Name and Representing Role fields will populate Counsel tab information when a Counsel has been selected. Once entered, these fields cannot be modified.

    Party Information

    The following fields are used when the Party type is selected.

  • Party – Use the dropdown to select the desired Party from the items entered on the Party tab. Additional information is now present in the dropdown to show Party Full Name and Party Role.

    The Role field will populate the Party tab information when a Party has been selected. Once entered, this field cannot be modified.

    Negotiation Information

  • Staff – Select the staff who is conducting the negotiation. The staff code of the current staff is automatically displayed; however, a different staff may be selected from the dropdown.

  • Date – The current date and time (when the new screen opened) is automatically displayed; however, a different date and time may be selected using the calendar

  • Kind – Select the type of negotiation from the dropdown. These are defined in the Negotiation Type Mini Directory.

  • Amount – Enter the amount of the demand or offer.

Enter notes or comments about this negotiation. Up to 5,000 characters can be entered.
