This article describes the procedure for activating tabs in all cases for a selected Case Type.
NOTE: You must have Modify permissions to Directories > Case Type.
To activate tabs in a Case Type:
From the Case Type Directory, select the Tab Setup tab.
Select the checkbox in the Active column of the tab you wish to activate.
NOTE: It is often not readily apparent what information will need to be entered into user defined tabs. If you are setting up a Case Type for the first time, consider skipping the user defined tabs until all other Case and Party information fields are created. Often, your form documents and specific reporting documents will help dictate usage of user defined tabs and fields.
The Name column contains the default tab name. To modify the tab name for this Case Type, double-click in the Title column to enter edit mode.
User defined screens can be created or modified using the Edit link in the User Defined Setup column. Refer to the Layout Manager for details on creating and modifying user defined fields for each available tab.
In addition to the five List/Entry tabs and the five Entry tabs, the other user defined screens for each Case Type include: Party, Case, Insurance, Counsel, Value, and Intake. You can create virtually unlimited unique user defined fields per screen for each of these tabs. User defined fields are created for the following reasons:
You want the information to be readily available in a standardized format without having to search through the Case.
The information will be merged into a form document. For example, pleadings and letters that reference the location of the incident can be automatically filled in by creating a field in which you input the location.
Consider your initial interview form as a guide for creating user defined fields. Information not already accounted for in standard Neos fields may be appropriate for user defined fields.
