Adding an Email

Emails are now contained in their own block. The Type field supports default options as well as custom values, allowing you to label email addresses by role or purpose. When an email is clicked, a new email window will display in either your Microsoft Outlook or your internet email within your browser. If your Outlook email signature is configured, it will be shown on the email that the recipient receives and any replies. NOTE: The Email Signature in your Neos Staff Profile does not display when clicking an email address inside Neos.

Due to this change, Master Report Templates and SQL-based reports (Assembly-created for your firm) that utilize Email columns (e.g., Default, Business, or Personal Email) will not function the same. It is recommended that these reports get recreated using filters in Advanced Search. All N5 Legacy reports and copies created off of these will continue to function properly.

NOTE: You must have Add permissions to Name Details > Online Accounts to create an email for a contact. You must also have Enabled and Modify permissions to the Party Tab or Provider Tab to save the changes made to the contact on the Party Tab or Provider Tab.

To enter a new email:

  1. Click the plus icon above the Emails block. The first email will be the default. Any additional emails added will show below the default.

  2. Enter the following fields on the Add Email window. All fields are required.

  • Type – Select an email type. The default options are Personal, Business, and Other. To enter a custom value, type the label directly in the field (up to 32 characters) and select Add this custom value from the dropdown.

NOTE: Custom email types are saved to the active contact record. A custom type created for one contact will not appear in the Type dropdown for other contacts.

  • Email – Enter the email address.

3. Click the Save button to insert the new email.

4. The email address and its type label will display in the email list for the contact. Custom type labels display consistently alongside the default type labels.
