Digital Disbursements is a leading digital payment platform for the legal industry. This integration enables firms to initiate and track the electronic disbursement of settlement funds from Neos. Unlike mailed settlement checks which can take weeks or months for clients to receive and deposit, this integration offers a disbursement choice, making it more cost-efficient for the biller.
If your firm is interested in this no-cost integration, follow the instructions in the Signup for Digital Disbursements section below. Only after your firm has been added to the signup queue, will the integration page be made available in Neos. To utilize the integration in Neos, a trust account must be created with the Digital Disbursements' banking partner.
NOTE: You must have Enabled and Add permissions to General > Interfaces to view and sign up for Digital Disbursements. To disable the integration, you must have Delete permissions to General > Interfaces.
To send payments from Neos, you must have Enabled permissions to Accounting > Send Payment. You may also need Add permissions to Accounting > Checks if choosing the "Paper Check" option when adding a payment, which triggers the "Create a Check Request" toggle.
To send disbursements successfully:
The integration with Neos must be active and connected properly with Digital Disbursements.
Disbursements must be enabled for a Case Type on the General Tab.
Party information such as the Name, Address, Phone #, and email address must be entered.
Signup for Digital Disbursements
The Digital Disbursements integration will be enabled on a first-come, first-served basis, and the sign-up process will typically take 5-7 weeks (from signup to process completion). Contact your Customer Success Manager or email [email protected] to be added to the sign-up queue. The Digital Disbursements integration will then be made visible to your firm in Neos. Navigate to Settings > Integrations > Digital Disbursements. Click the Sign Up button.
Enter the following information on the Sign Up for Digital Disbursements window. All fields, except for Address Line 2, are required. Neos will prefill the Firm Details fields from Firm Preferences.
If the Billing Contact is the same as the Point of Contact, select the Same as point of contact checkbox to copy the details to this section.
After all required fields are satisfied, click the Sign Up button. The window will close and the Integration screen will either be successful, showing Active with a check mark OR a failure. A unique Payor ID will be created and sent to Digital Disbursements.
NOTE: While the Connection Status will show Active in Integrations, disbursements cannot be initiated successfully until Digital Disbursements has contacted your firm.
Digital Disbursements will contact your firm to introduce their banking partner, Bank of Montreal, where a trust account will need to be created.
Once the account setup is complete, Settlements and Disbursements can be enabled for the Case Types in which funds will be disbursed from Neos. Refer to the General Tab for more details.
NOTE: Firms are advised to keep Disbursements disabled (unchecked) for all Case Types until the bank account setup process is complete.
