This article describes how to delete a Document Type.
To remove a Document Type,
Click the Settings icon from the left navigation pane.
Select the Document Types button from the Directory editors group.
Hover over the Document Type you wish to remove and click the Delete icon
. Document Types that are currently in use will be marked inactive.
Click the Yes button to remove the selected Document Type.
Click the No button to abort the deletion.
4. Click the Save button to keep your changes.
If the Document Type is currently assigned to documents, it will be inactive and moved to the bottom of the list, displayed alphabetically. The Document Type tab will be removed from the Documents Tab where documents are assigned this type. The document(s) will only be shown in the All Files tab, however, the Type will remain associated in the Type column.
The file(s) remain in the SharePoint folder until you assign a different Document Type to the file(s). This can be performed in Bulk Actions > Edit for multiple documents via the Case/Intake or Advanced Search.
To revert changes, return to the inactive Document Type, click the Active checkbox, and save your changes. The Document Type will reappear in all Cases/Intakes with the file(s) associated for this type.
