The Reductions Tab of the Settlement Calculator is used to simulate reductions for Value items in a Case. All values are now right-aligned for easier viewing. When changes are made to the Reduction field for individual or grouped Value entries, click the Totals tab to see the changes reflected in the corresponding Due and Net fields.
NOTE: Changes made to Reductions can be applied to the respective Value items in the Case.
Value items are grouped by Value Code with a calculator icon to the right of the Reduced Total column.
Select the down arrow for a Value Code to see the list of items that use that code. When Reduction data is modified, the field will turn blue. Click the curved arrow button to revert the reduction to the existing reduction, if any, in the Value item.
The Reductions column is used to reduce the total amount of the Value item by a dollar value. Current reductions in the Value Tab (Reduction field) will prepopulate in the Reduction field of the Settlement Calculator.
Pro-Rated Value Reductions
All Value items for a single Value Code can be reduced at one time using the calculator icon. Click the calculator icon to apply a pro-rated reduction to each Value item using that Value Code.
On the Estimate Reductions window, enter the amount that is available for reductions to be applied to all listed Value items that use the Value Code. The Available for Reduction field will be blank by default.
Click the Distribute Evenly button to automatically distribute the entered amount across all Value items that use this Value Code.
Changes can be made in the Reductions field for individual Value entries.
NOTE: A warning will display if reductions exceed the amount allocated in the Available for Reduction field.
Click the Save button on the bottom right to keep your reduction changes. If the reductions exceed the available amount, you will be asked if you wish to continue.
If the reductions are lower than the available amount, the Available Amount for Reduction field will automatically change to reflect the lower reduction value.
Back on the Settlement Calculator window (Reductions Tab), click the double checkmark button to apply these reductions to all the Value items in this Value Code.
NOTE: Reductions can be saved as offers without applying the change to the Value entries, i.e., instead of clicking the double checkmark button, simply click Save.
Click the Save button on the Settlement Calculator window. Then, click the X or Close & Discard button to close the window.
Individual Value Item Reductions
Alternatively, you can enter individual reduction amounts.
Reduction changes can be applied to the single or group of Value items in the Case that use that Value Code. Click the checkmark button to apply the reduction(s).
Click the Yes button to reduce the Total Due for the Value item by the entered value (shown).
Click the No button to abort changes.
NOTE: Reductions can be saved as offers without applying the change to the Value entries, i.e., instead of clicking the checkmark button, simply click Save.
A success banner will display when the Yes button is clicked. The Value item has been changed.
If reduction changes are saved as offers but not yet applied to the Value item, the Target Reduction from the Settlement Calculator will display in the detail view if the amount is different than the actual value in the Reduction field.
When the reduction amount matches (e.g., reduction change is applied to the Value item(s)) or exceeds the value entered on the Settlement Calculator, this Target Reduction field will be removed.
