Add New Trust Request

In addition to invoices, a trust request can be created for your clients from within the Invoices view on the Value Tab of a Case. Trust requests allow you to keep a record of requests for funds from your clients. These can be initial trust deposits or retainers.

NOTE: Your firm must have the LawPay integration enabled to add a trust request and the Firm Preference > Time & Billing Tab must have "Enable Trust Request" selected.

NOTE: You must have at least Enabled permission to the Case > Value Tab and Add permission to the Accounting > Invoicing Tab to add a new trust request.

To add a new trust request:

  1. Open the Case, navigate to the Value Tab, and select the Invoices view.

  2. Click the + New Trust Request button above the grid.

  3. Enter the following details in the New Trust Request window.

  • Amount – Enter the amount of the trust request. This field is required.

  • Bill to – Select the contact from the Parties within the Case for whom is receiving the trust request. This field is required.

  • Provider – The Trust Provider saved in Firm Preferences will display by default. Search and select the Provider associated with the request, e.g., your firm name, if this field is blank. This field is required.

  • Auto Approve – Select the slider to automatically approve this trust request and set the status to "Due". If this option is 'off', the trust request will default to a status of "Draft" (see below).

4. Click the Save button to create the new trust request.

5. The detail view of the new trust request will display, showing the attached new Value item with the 'Trust' Value Code.

6. The requested amount will be added as a transaction in the created Value item.

7. On the detail view of the Trust Request Draft, click the Submit button.

When the new Trust Request is set to Auto Approve, the detail view of the trust request will display with a Due status.

Trust requests in Due, Overdue, or Paid statuses cannot be edited. Requests that are in a Draft or Pending status cannot be deleted.

All Trust request activities (created, updated, deleted, paid, etc.) will display in the Activity Feed for the Case.

Trust requests can be submitted or auto-approved, denied, deleted, downloaded (only PDF or Word), marked as paid, voided, shared, or shared with LawPay.
