The Case/Matter Type Directory stores the user-defined Case/Matter Type Codes. Case/Matter Type Codes define the types of cases or areas of law practiced in the firm. Each case in Neos is organized in file-folder format with tabs representing sections of information. Neos refers to this format as a Case Folder. In setting up a Case/Matter Type, you must first determine the format of the case folders. The Case Type label is used in the instructions and examples of this manual.
NOTE: Select either the Case Type or Matter Type label from the Firm Preferences > Default Info tab. Your selection will be used throughout Neos, such as when selecting the Case Type directory button. This setting can be changed anytime; however, you must have proper permissions to modify the Firm Preferences.
To access the Case Types Directory, select the Settings icon
in the left navigation pane. On the Settings tab, click the Case Types button within Directory editors.
NOTE: You must have proper permissions to access the Case Types Directory.
The Case Types Directory will open to a list view of all case types.
List View
The Case Type Directory contains a list view of all case types in a grid showing Code, Header, Description, and Active? columns. From the list view, you can add a case type, delete a case type, or view details of an existing case type. Select a desired case type to display the detail view.
Detail View
The Case Types Directory detail view displays when a case type is selected from the list view. Click the arrow icon to hide the left pane. The detail view contains the following tabs for customizing a case type: General, Labels, Case Dates, Tab Setup, and Primary Checklist. [screenshot]
The Duplicate Case Type button has been surfaced out of the previous three-dot action menu, making it easier to locate this feature.
The + Add Automation button has been added to quickly create an automation associated with the current Case Type. When clicked, a New Automation tab will display and default the Trigger to "When Checklist Status is changed".
Both the + Add Automation and Duplicate Case Type buttons are available on all tabs within the Case Type detail view.
NOTE: These buttons are only visible after a new Case Type has been saved.
