NeosAI Chat includes two reasoning modes that provide targeted responses based on your intended use.
Broad Scope is the current reasoning mode, providing fast results on large sets of data. This mode is best used for documents with many pages to extract data
Focused Insight allows users to go beyond factual retrieval to obtain reasoning about case facts, helping uncover weaknesses, spot missing exhibits, outline cross-examination questions, and draft strategic arguments. Using a smaller number of pages, Focused Insight provides higher quality advanced reasoning, resulting in an in-depth analysis, which may take longer to generate a response.
NOTE: Your firm must have NeosAI Platinum and Staff must have the Special Permissions > NeosAI and AI Chat set to Enabled.
To apply reasoning modes in NeosAI Chat:
Open NeosAI Chat. Reasoning Mode options will be available at the bottom of the chat window. Your current mode will be selected using the mode from your last message sent/received.
To change the reasoning mode, select the desired option row or radio button. Reasoning modes can be changed during the same NeosAI chat conversation; however, the messages sent by you and the NeosAI Assistant will reflect the mode that was selected when the message was sent.
AI Prompts can be linked to specific reasoning modes. The list of active prompts will change based on your selected reasoning mode in NeosAI Chat. Refer to Create AI Prompts and Modify AI Prompts for more information.
Broad Scope Mode
Provides fast, helpful responses for everyday legal tasks, best for analyzing large datasets. This mode can analyze approximately 1,500 – 2,000 pages of content. When selected, the accents and chat bubbles sent/received will have a blue color.
The Broad Scope Mode will think for just a moment and may show additional progress as it formulates a response.

Focused Insight Mode
Provides more thoughtful answers for complex, high-reasoning legal questions. Best used when nuance or multi-step reasoning is critical, such as legal arguments or logic chains. When Focused Insight mode is selected, the accents and chat bubbles sent/received will have a purple color.
Focused Insight mode may take a couple of minutes to provide the in-depth analysis and may show additional progress as it formulates a response.
