The Settlement Memo tab displays a list of reports that reference settlement memos by criteria such as lien summary, case expense, and attorney fees.
NOTE: A user must have permission to the Report Library and the Settlement Memo function to utilize the Settlement Memo Reports tab and reports.
Standard reports cannot be deleted; however, they can be edited and saved as a new report.
Refer to Accessing Reports for additional details.
The Settlement Memo - Standard report is the only report that does not require Value Codes to be specified (Recovery, Other Credits, Disbursement, and Attorney Fees filters are not used and hidden by default). This report can be run directly from the Value Tab of a Case using Actions > Reports For Case or the Download Settlement memo button without having to make any additional filter changes.
NOTE: Ensure that the other existing filters are applicable for a Case. For example, if the report has the Our Client filter set to Yes as the default but there are no Parties in the Case marked as "Our Client", the generated report will display blank.
The remaining Settlement Memos (including any custom Settlement Memo reports) will need to have default values added to the report filters to run properly from the Value Tab. These defaults can be set by using the Edit Report function under the More dropdown of a Report Details tab. Using the Report Editor will allow you to save filter selections with default values specific to your firm, which is similar to saving parameters on a report in Needles 5. By setting the default values to the correct Value Codes in your firm's system, the Settlement Memos will run properly from the Value Tab without the need for additional changes.
Within the Report Edit window, scroll down to the Recovery filter. All filters that relate to Value are listed together in the Filters section of the Report Edit window.
Click the Default Value dropdown next to the filter you are changing and select the desired Value Code(s). These will display as the default when running the report.
NOTE: The Disbursements filter Default Value dropdown uses options from the Paid By Mini Directory.
When all desired default values have been set, click the Save button to save your changes.
Select Export > PDF Legacy Reports (N5) from the Report Details tab of the desired report to view the complete Settlement Memo as a PDF.
If there are Value items assigned to multiple Parties in the Case, entries related to each Party will be listed on separate pages. Refer to the page header of the exported PDF Legacy Report showing the Case Number and Party Name.
The chart below lists the filters that will need to be set for each Neos Settlement Memo. The specific default value for each filter depends upon your firm's Value Codes. For example, Recovery may use the SETTLE Value Code, while Attorney Fees may use ATTYFEE. Refer to your firm's Value Codes Mini Directory for specifying the correct default Value Code(s) for each filter.
