When you send a text message using Neos Premium Texting, each message is assigned a state that reflects its current delivery status. You can view the state of any message directly in the Text Conversation tab. Understanding these states helps you know whether your message reached the recipient and what to do if it did not.
Where to Find Message States
Each message in the Text Conversation tab displays its state using both a text label and a visual indicator. These appear alongside the message so you can quickly see the delivery status.
Message States
The following table describes each possible state for a sent text message:
State | Description |
Pending | The message has been submitted and is waiting to be delivered. This is a temporary state. It will typically move to Sent or Failed to send shortly after being submitted. |
Sent | The message has been successfully delivered to the recipient's carrier. A timestamp displaying the date and time the message was sent will appear below the message. NOTE: This does not confirm that the recipient has read the message. |
Failed to send | The message could not be delivered. An exclamation mark icon will appear alongside the message. See the section below for common reasons and next steps. |

Why a Message May Fail to Send
There are several common reasons a text message may receive a Failed to send status:
Invalid or landline number: The phone number entered is not a valid mobile number, or it belongs to a landline that cannot receive SMS messages.
Recipient has opted out: The recipient has previously unsubscribed from receiving text messages. Messages cannot be sent to contacts who have opted out.
Carrier filtering: The recipient's mobile carrier blocked the message, often as part of spam or fraud prevention measures.
What to Do When a Message Fails to Send
If a message shows a "Failed to send" status, there is no automatic resend option. Here are the recommended steps:
Verify the phone number is a valid mobile number and correct any errors.
Confirm the recipient has not opted out of text messaging.
Once the issue is resolved, compose and send a new message.
If the issue persists and you are unable to identify the cause, contact Neos Support for further assistance.
