Documents can be attached to the detail view of a Case Note. Once saved, the attached document will also be added to the Case Documents Tab. Attachments can be opened in your firm's SharePoint directly from the Case Notes Tab or from the Case Documents Tab.
NOTE: You must have Add and/or Modify permissions to attach a document to the Notes Tab.
To attach a document to a Case Note entry:
Open the desired Case Folder and select the Notes Tab.
Navigate to the detail view of the existing note OR click + New Note to create a new note.
Click the Attachments button to attach a document.
A browse window will display where you can select the document you wish to add. Only one attachment can be added at a time.
Click the Open button to insert the selected document. The document file name (e.g., Summers Case Notes.docx) will be inserted in the Attachments section. Attachments can be removed by clicking the X to the right of the file name (when hovering).
Click the Save Changes button to save changes to the current Notes entry.
To view the added document from the Notes Tab detail view, double-click the file name. A new tab will open in your browser, showing the document within your firm's SharePoint.
Single-click the attachment to see a side preview pane of the attachment.
From the list view, add the paperclip column to see the number of attachments that have been added for each Note.
The attachment is also added to the Documents Tab for the same Case. Review Viewing Case Documents in SharePoint for more details.
You may wish to assign a Type to the added document for better case organization in your firm's SharePoint. Review Adding Documents for more details.
