Using NeosAI, an Executive Case Summary can be generated for a Case, eliminating the need to browse data on each tab to get an overview. The Executive Case Summary is useful for firm staff, such as attorneys or managing partners who are working multiple cases to quickly grasp the status of a case. The summary is accessible from the Case Tab and any tab of the Case using NeosAI Tools.
The Executive Case Summary is automatically generated on all existing and new cases. For new cases, ensure that all required Assigned To staff fields are selected for the most accurate case summary.

NOTE: Your firm must have NeosAI. Staff must have the NeosAI Special Permission and the Show AI Case Summary in the Case Tab Special Permission set to Enabled. To view the Financials section of the generated AI Executive Case Summary, you will need at least Enabled permissions to Case > Value Tab.
To generate an AI Executive Case Summary:
Navigate to the Case Tab of the desired Case.
An AI Executive Case Summary section will display above the General Information section. The summary will automatically generate/regenerate for all new and existing cases. Click the Refresh button to manually trigger the summary.
NOTE: If the summary has been cleared, click the Summarize AI button to generate it.
The Select Data Sources window will display. All listed data sources are included by default, except Current Staff Data and Value Data. Dropdowns for the selected data sources will display below the Data Sources field, allowing you to further define the record(s) you wish to include in the prompt for generating the executive summary.
Refer to AI ECS - Data Source Configuration for more details.
NOTE: When an Intake is made into a Case, the final Stage > Status (Closed > Case) will not be included when generating an Executive Case Summary.
When any changes are made to the Data Sources, the following warning will display on Save.
Click Yes to continue. The Executive Case Summary will regenerate (or generate for the first time) with the updated data sources.
Click No to abort your data source changes, keeping your existing Executive Case Summary (if it exists).
5. The Select Data Sources window will close and return you to the Case Tab. The Executive Case Summary will take a few minutes to generate, depending on the number of selected data sources.
6. Once the generation is complete, you'll be notified at the bottom of Neos.
7. The AI Executive Case Summary has been now added at the top of the Case Tab.
8. Click the down arrow to expand the summary. The selected data sources are used as sections for the summary. The AI-generated summary displays formatting such as bold headers, bullet points, and tables depending on the AI response.
NOTE: Existing summaries must be refreshed or regenerated to access the updated, rich text formatting.
9. The Financials section shows a high-level breakdown of the Fees and Costs associated with this Case.
NOTE: You must have at least Enabled permission to Case > Value Tab to view this Financials section.
Value items are categorized by Fees or Costs as defined by the Value Code Type in the Value Codes Mini Directory. Any Value Codes that are not assigned as either type will be grouped under "Uncategorized". Contact your firm's Neos Administrator to assign the remaining Value Code Types as appropriate.
Fees: Attorney Fees, Fixed Fees, and Time
Costs: Case Expenses, Damages, Debt Pay, Due to Firm, Liens, Subrogation, Travel
10. A summary of all Value items by Value Code can be viewed from the AI Executive Case Summary by clicking the Show Value Subtotals button. Refer to the Value Subtotals article for more details.
11. The Executive Case Summary is also available on any tab of the Case using NeosAI Tools. Just like from the Case Tab, the summary can be refreshed, sent as an email, cleared, or data sources can be changed.
A record of this change to the Case will display in the Activity Feed.
Click View to access the side preview pane of the Case.
Click Edit to open the Case Tab.
